Raw Bodies: Men Uncovered and Unfiltered by Photographer Puterio
Feeling voyeuristic? Take a peek at this hot collection by Argentinian photographer Puterio. These portraits take you into bed with three men wearing only the sunlight.
Jonatan, also known as Puterio online, is a Buenos Aires-based photographer who has built his artistic practice around capturing the subtle, intimate moments that define gay relationships and sexuality. Raised in Vicente López, a coastal city on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Jonatan grew up in an environment where self-expression, particularly around sexuality, was tightly concealed.
Recalling his formative years of self-discovery, he says, "Man as an object of desire was denied to me by society, institutions, and myself for most of my life."
Now 36, Jonatan is creating and living fully and authentically. Even though his surroundings are still somewhat conservative, his environment inspires him to explore the boundaries of gay erotic art — capturing what he was once denied: intimate moments of connection between men.
From Childhood Curiosity to an Adult Lens
Jonatan’s path into photography began with an early dream of filmmaking, though he ultimately found the immediacy of photography more suited to his need for creative expression. "Film production often involves a very large deployment and lengthy processes," he says. "In photography, I found a mechanism to produce images that is much more immediate, and that appealed to me."

Guided by his obsessive eye for detail, Jonatan’s shooting style has evolved from restrictive staging and extensive editing to minimalistic, well-defined, and organic — a shift in mentality that has allowed his images to highlight his subjects' pure and intimate forms — a hallmark of Jonatan's portfolio.
The Interplay of Art and Eroticism
While many artists draw a clear line between erotic art and pornography, Jonatan considers this distinction unnecessary and outdated. He views labels like "pornography" as a "mechanism for control and censorship" used to limit what can be openly expressed and shared.
"Historically, 'pornography' has been considered content that includes explicit sex, but isn't it reductive to understand sex merely as a genital act?" he asks. Jonatan believes that representations of sexuality, even if explicit, hold a place within artistic expression, encouraging a more nuanced understanding of what intimacy entails.
At the heart of his creative pursuits lies the ever-present challenge of portraying human connection in its most distilled form.
