Slava Mogutin is a Russian-American multimedia artist whose outspoken queer writing and activism led to his exile from Russia. As the first Russian granted political asylum in the US due to homophobic persecution, Slava's art examines the complexities of displacement and identity, pride and shame, love and hate.

Slava's journey from Russia to the US is marked by his evolution from a journalist and poet to a celebrated visual artist. His self-taught photography and multimedia work have been exhibited internationally, capturing the essence of queer life and identity. His latest book, ‘Analog Human Studies,’ published in 2023, showcases his extensive portfolio of film portraiture.
