Thanks so much for having me! It's a complete honor to bring this topic further into discussion and awareness, and I'm excited for y'all to check-in with the relationship style(s) that work best for you - for now!
LGBTQ activists like myself worked for decades to reach the monumental achievement of legalized "marriage equality"; but some ungrateful young people like Kevin Martin are doing everything they can to undermine the sanctity of Gay Marriage. He encourages married couples to toss their vows out the window and fulfill their sexual and emotional urges outside their relationship; in essence they go back to being roommates. Martin's bitter attitude toward marriage comes from his one brief failed attempt at marriage. He doesn't have a college degree in psychology, psychiatry, or human sexuality. He's a self-appointed "sex coach", but lacks the many years of life experience to offer couples counseling advice. He is offering personal opinions without any research data to back it up. As a gay rights activist since Stonewall (1969), I would recommend you and your spouse see a licensed psychologist before making drastic changes to your relationship status. I've seen too many guys get hurt by experimenting with "open marriage".
Thank you for sharing your perspective. In this article, Kevin discusses the importance of communication between partners when navigating different relationship structures. He is not prescribing one approach over another but encouraging couples to have open, honest conversations about their needs, desires, and boundaries.
That said, making disparaging remarks about a contributor’s personal life is not acceptable on this page, especially when unrelated to the topic at hand. We want to maintain a respectful space for dialogue, even when opinions differ.
We recognize that open relationships are not for everyone and agree that seeking guidance from licensed professionals can be beneficial. With that in mind, Kevin has provided our team with documentation of his Master of Science degree.
